Frame Timber

Macrocarpa timber has a finer grain than pine. Each beam is unique, often showing swirls and compression ripples. The fine grade timber we order is always free from knot voids, but occasionally we see concentric grain. Let us know if you have a grain preference.

Pine has a broad grain with natural contrast across the yearly growth rings. We offer a natural finish, or a coloured java or rimu finish.
Slats

Fixed-slats, also known as straight or flat slats, are maintenance-free and suit all our latex mattresses and futons perfectly. We make them out of pine for its strong span strength. We usually recommend fixed-slats.

Flexi-slats give latex and sunflower mattresses more 'bounce', and a bit more posture contouring, especially in thin or very soft mattresses. Every 5 years the flexi-slats positioned mid bed should be repositioned to the top, and the top slats moved to the bottom, and the bottom slats moved to the middle. This rotation maintains their springiness and evenness over time. They should last well over 10 years before they flatten out and need replaced.

Please use the contact form if you would like to know more about tension slats. These are special adjustable flexi-slats that are individually configurable from soft to firm. We're not physiotherapists, but being able to localise the softness or 'give' of selected slats is sometimes – depending on many aspects not least the mattress – more comfortable for people with broad shoulders or hips, or those with joint pain in a shoulder or pelvis.

Slats can be recessed by as much as 110cm to lower your mattress height within the frame. Please contact us for more information this customisation.
Headboard

Height Adjustable with three settings. Contact us for headboard options.
Assembly

Can be flat-packed. Solid steel slot-together frame setup. The headboard has two bolts that can be positioned low, middle or high to adjust height. Slats require a phillips screwdriver: Four screws hold the slat belt tight from head to foot.

Estimated Delivery Time

All latex mattress, futons and bed bases are made by us from raw materials when your order is accepted. If you need your order in a hurry please let us know. We will try to prioritise it, while keeping our existing commitments. The usual order completion time is two weeks plus delivery time.

North Island delivery usually arrives the day after it leaves our workshop. South Island delivery can take two or three days to arrive.

Auckland Delivery Cost

We deliver bed frames and mattresses in Auckland for a $50 flat rate, and we are happy to setup. Alternatively, you are welcome to pickup from our showroom and workshop in Oratia.

Shipping costs relate to the total volume of your order and your address. The following chart is a simplified indication of shipping costs for home addresses near freight hubs. Your actual shipping cost is calculated on the Checkout Page when you enter an address. If your address isn't found, please choose 'Delivery Quote' when you Checkout, and we'll reply with 'at cost' freight options.

Packaging

Frames are 'flat packed' into three-wall cardboard packages less than 30kg each. Mattresses are 'double bagged'. Seraphic mattresses latex layers may be bagged individually to keep their weight under 30kg.
