Wool Cot Mattress

Description

A very soft and stable mattress, with wool cushioning for support and softness.

We make this with five thick layers of wool felt padding, stacked inside quilted pockets of wool, covered with stretchy bamboo knit fabric.

This cot mattress will suit babies outgrowing a bassinet and prior to a single bed. This mattress is too deeply soft for newborn babies; please see our latex cot mattresses instead, or contact us for alternative suggestions.

We make this mattress to fit your cot size, so let us know your frame dimensions right up to the sides when you order. Many NZ cots are around 130cm long by 70cm wide for an indication of price.

Wool felt is a process creating cushions of wool, intertwining the strands into a roll of wool padding. This cot mattress has 5 layers of wool felt, and 250gsm of wool quilted into the cover itself. The total thickness is initially 13cm but this will compress slowly over time as the wool layers further felt together. While the initially puffyness will compress, full breathability and padded support will maintain over at least 10 years. The cover is made with a zip, so additional layers of wool felt can easily be added at a later date if wanted.

Wool padding retains wool fibre strength and integrity over time; even compressed over many nights it stays highly breathable while insulating well due to the struture of wool strands.

We recommend using this mattress with a breathable and waterproof cot mattress protector. If the protector fabric also stretches it will contour with this soft mattress surface.
